NPG was established in 2005 because we realised that many of the older people we knew locally were becoming lonely and socially isolated. We are based in The Old Library, West Norwood, a small community in the south of the London Borough of Lambeth. Whilst our activities are primarily for older people in the local area, we do not exclude others who would benefit from our classes.

The group meets every Tuesday in school term times and we offer a range of recreational and social activities. There is a focus on activities which support health and mobility, including tai chi, chair exercise and dance exercise. We also have flower arranging and computer advice. There is a fee payable weekly for classes taught by professional tutors: please see Timetable page for the class times.

We would like to extend a welcome to you by offering one first class as a free trial (without obligation).

Tai Chi (£5 per class)

A form of ancient Chinese classical dance exercises suitable for all ages. It strengthens and improves balance, fitness and flexibility, and offers relief to painful joints.

Chair Exercise (£5 per class)

A class of exercises for those less able to stand, for improving core strength and flexibility, done from a seated position, accompanied by music.

Dance Exercise (£5 per class)

A fun and easy class of gentle exercise and dance, with the aim of increasing mobility and flexibility, and toning the muscle groups.

Flower Arranging (£5 per class)

A class suitable for beginners, whilst also providing intermediate level floristry.

Computer Advice

What is ‘the cloud’? How can I save space on my phone? How do I make sure I’m going to the right site and protect myself? If you have any questions at all about your computer, tablet or phone, technology, this is hopefully for you.
